In our kitchen, we love to play around with ingredients and recipes for hours on end. However, it is always a good idea to have a last minute option for last minute guests! This easy to prepare tart is made with store bought puff pastry or "pâte feuilletée" and thinly sliced pears.
For the recipe:
- 1 package of frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 4 pears
- 50 grams butter, melted
- Sugar to taste
- Apple & Fennel Jelly (or nay jelly you have on hand)
Makes 4 tarts
Set your oven to 350 F.
Cut each sheet of puff pastry (there should be two in the package) in two, lengthwise.
Rinse the pears, cut them in half and core them.
Slice each pear thinly and work rather quickly to prevent the pears from browning. Or keep some lemon juice handy to keep the pears from oxidizing.
Arrange the pear slices on the puff pastry so that they overlap and making sure to keep 1 inch of space on the outside.
With a pastry brush, cover the pears with some melted butter. Sprinkle some sugar to taste on top and bake for around 30 minutes, rotating once.
Remove from the oven and with a pastry brush, glaze the tart with apple and fennel jelly that has been slightly warmed. Serve at room temperature.
